Bundle discount

Reward shoppers who add everything they’re recommended: how to turn it on, exactly when the discount applies and when it doesn’t, what checkout shows, and the Teacup Quiz bundle discount in Shopify.

#What the bundle discount does

When a shopper adds every recommended product in one tap with Add all to cart, and keeps them all in the cart, each of those products gets a percentage off at checkout. It’s a reason to buy the whole routine, not just one step. Every plan includes it.

Shoppers see the saving before they decide. The Add all bar reads “The whole routine · save 10%” (or “All your matches”, or “Everything for Glass Skin”), shows the full total struck through next to the discounted one, and the button says Add all · save 10%.

#Turn it on

  1. Click Results in Quiz steps.
  2. Turn on Bundle discount: “Reward shoppers who take everything: the discount applies when they use ‘Add all to cart’ and keep every product in the cart.”
  3. Set Discount (%): a whole number from 1 to 50, 10 by default. “Shoppers see the saving on the results page; checkout shows it as ‘Bundle … off’.”
  4. Publish. The discount follows the published quiz, so it starts, changes or stops when you publish.

With Products that fit, the switch is at the end of Products shown. With result pages, it appears once at least one result has 2 or more products. Quizzes created as Build a routine or set start with 10%.

#Exactly when it applies

It applies when

  • The shopper clicked Add all to cart on their results.
  • Every product that click added is still in the cart.
  • The bundle has 2 to 12 different products.
  • The products are ones this quiz recommends: for Products that fit, products the published quiz can show; for result pages, that result’s own products.

It doesn’t apply

  • To products added one at a time with Add to cart, even if the shopper ends up with all of them.
  • To products added from Also a great fit.
  • Once the shopper removes any product of the bundle: the whole bundle loses the discount.
  • When the results show a single product: there’s no Add all.
  • To bundles of more than 12 products, such as a routine of 5 steps with 3 products each.
  • To extra units: the discount covers one of each product. A shopper who raises a quantity to 2 pays full price for the second.
  • Twice: each product is discounted in one bundle at most, so clicking Add all again doesn’t add a second discount.

Other discounts

The bundle discount combines with order discounts and shipping discounts, but not with other product discounts. A shopper with a product discount (automatic or a code) gets one or the other on those products, not both.

#What shoppers see after adding

On the results page: Added to cart, “All 4 are in your cart, with 10% off.” and View cart, which opens your theme’s cart drawer if it has one.

At checkout, each bundle product shows the discount as “Bundle 10% off”.

#The Teacup Quiz bundle discount in Shopify

The discount runs as one automatic discount for your whole store, named Teacup Quiz bundle, on Shopify’s Discounts page. Teacup Quiz creates it the first time you publish a quiz with a bundle discount, and keeps it in step with every publish, unpublish, delete and product change. One discount covers all your quizzes, each with its own percentage.

  • Its percentages and products come from your published quizzes. Change them in Teacup Quiz, not in Shopify.
  • If you delete it in Shopify, Teacup Quiz creates it again at your next publish or product change while a published quiz has a bundle discount.
  • To stop it for one quiz, turn Bundle discount off and publish. Unpublishing or deleting the quiz stops it too.
  • Shopify limits how much a discount can hold. With very many published bundle quizzes and products, the products your quizzes show least often can fall outside the discount.

#Test it

  1. Publish the quiz.
  2. Open your store in test mode (Home → Try it like a shopper → Open your store), take the quiz and click Add all to cart.
  3. Go to checkout: each product shows “Bundle 10% off”.
  4. Remove one product from the cart: the discount disappears from the others.

In the editor’s Play, Add all only explains what would happen: “Preview: on your store this adds all 4 products to the cart, with 10% off.” See Testing on your store.
