Your first quiz, live in five minutes

#Before you start

Teacup Quiz recommends products that are active and available on your Online Store. If your store has no such products yet, the Home page says so: add a product first, then come back.

Open Teacup Quiz from Apps in your Shopify admin. The Home page shows a setup guide, Set up Teacup Quiz, with four steps and a progress bar. Each step ticks itself off when it’s done, and the next one opens by itself.

#1. Create your quiz

1. On Home, click Create quiz.
2. Pick what the quiz should do: Find the right product, Find the perfect gift, Build a routine or set or What’s your type?
3. Pick the products it may recommend, for example All products or a few Collections.
4. Optionally, tell Teacup Quiz anything it should know in Anything Teacup Quiz should know? and give the quiz a name.
5. Click Create quiz. Teacup Quiz writes the questions and picks the products for each answer in under a minute, and the editor opens.

#2. Review it in the editor

The middle of the editor shows the quiz exactly as shoppers see it. Click any text to change it in place. Switch to Play in the toolbar to take the quiz like a shopper, on a phone or a desktop width.

The pill in the toolbar runs Check every answer: it tries every combination of answers and tells you if any shopper could end up with nothing. Green, Every answer works, means there’s nothing to fix or look at.

#3. Publish it

Click Publish at the top of the editor. If something would break the quiz for shoppers, Teacup Quiz names it and doesn’t publish until it’s fixed. Every answer is checked first, and you’re asked before any shopper could end up with nothing: Some shoppers would get no products offers Show me, to see which answers lead there, and Publish anyway.

Your first published quiz becomes your Main quiz: the one any Teacup Quiz block on your theme shows unless you give it another quiz’s ID.

#4. Put it on your store

Right after the first publish, the Put it on your store dialog opens. Each option opens your theme editor with the quiz already added:

• A section on a page: the whole quiz on your home page or any other page.
• A button on product pages: opens the quiz in a popup without leaving the product.
• A popup on every page: a floating quiz button in the corner.
• Any link or menu item: a #teacup link that opens the quiz in a popup, on pages where the popup or a quiz button is on.

Drag the block where you want it, then click Save in the theme editor. Back in Teacup Quiz, the setup guide notices the new block by itself.

#5. Try it like a shopper

In the setup guide, Try it like a shopper → Open your store opens your store in test mode, with a private code for your store, valid that day and the next. Take the quiz, add to cart, even leave your email.
