Result pages: a personal result

Give each type of shopper their own result, like The Weekend Explorer: each result’s settings, how answers give points, ties, close matches, landing pages and what shoppers see.

#What result pages are

With A personal result, the quiz doesn’t rank products. It adds up the points the shopper’s answers give each result and shows the winner: a name, your words, a picture, the bundle or products it sells, and an optional landing page.

Use it for “What’s your type?” quizzes (a coffee personality, a skin goal, a travel style), or when you sell a few products or bundles and each one should be its own result. Quizzes created as What’s your type? start this way.

Switching to result pages

  1. Click Results in Quiz steps.
  2. Click A personal result.

If the quiz has no result pages yet, Teacup Quiz makes one per answer of question 1 (up to 8), named after the answers, points each answer to its own result with Strongly (+2), and sets Also a great fit to 2 close matches. It’s a starting point to adjust.

Switching back to Products that fit keeps the pages and points, and switching again brings them back. Answers can hold matching rules and points side by side; only the chosen kind of results uses them.

#Each result’s settings

SettingWhat it does
NameThe type’s name. “Shoppers see ‘Your match: The Weekend Explorer’.” A result without a name gets a warning.
Heading (optional)The big line, e.g. “You need gear that keeps up with you”. Without it, the name is the heading.
Text (optional)A few sentences under the heading, e.g. “Light, packable and tough enough for every trail you throw at it.”
Picture (optional)Picture → From your Files or From a product. “Shown whole at the top of the result, in its own shape. Without one, the products’ photos lead.”
Bundle or productsPick products, up to 10. “Pick your bundle product, or a few products. Shoppers add them in one tap.” The × on a chip removes a product.
Landing page (optional)A page on your store, like /pages/weekend-explorer, or an address starting with https://. “Shoppers get a button to it, e.g. a page with everything for this type.”
ButtonShows once the landing page is valid: the button’s label. Empty, it reads Learn more.
Skip the results and open the landing page“Shoppers go straight to the page after the quiz. Their answers still count in your stats and Klaviyo.”
  • Move up (wins ties) moves a result up the list.
  • The trash deletes a result, and with it every point that pointed at it. A quiz keeps at least one result.
  • A result no answer gives points to shows No answer leads here yet.

Adding results

  • Add result adds an empty one, named “Result 4”.
  • Add products as results opens the product picker (up to 12 at once) and makes one result per product, named after it and selling it. Then give answers points toward them.

#How points pick the result

The Result pages section sums it up: “On each answer, choose which result it counts toward. Shoppers get the result most of their answers point to.”

Click Choose result under an answer in the question’s settings (Edit result once it points somewhere), or hover the answer on the canvas and click Choose result (or 2 results once it points to two). The dialog asks “Which results does this answer point to? Shoppers get the result their answers point to most.” For each result, pick No, Yes (+1), Strongly (+2) or Very strongly (+3). An answer can point to several results. On a one-answer question, the dialog also has Then (The next question by default): see Branching.

  • The result with the most points across all of the shopper’s answers wins.
  • On a tie, the result higher in the list wins. Use Move up (wins ties) to choose which.
  • Very strongly (+3) is simply 3 points. Other answers can still add up to more for another result.
  • When the shopper’s answers give no points at all, the first result shows. Check every answer warns about these ways to answer, and your analytics count them as no match.

Example: a coffee personality quiz

QuestionAnswerPoints
How do you take your coffee?A quick shotEspresso Purist +3
Black, slow, by handPour-over Explorer +3
With lots of milkCozy Latte Lover +3
Pick a morningUp early, straight to workEspresso Purist +2
A slow weekend breakfastPour-over Explorer +1, Cozy Latte Lover +2
Your favorite flavorsChocolate and nutsCozy Latte Lover +1, Espresso Purist +1
Berries and citrusPour-over Explorer +2

A shopper who answers Black, slow, by hand; A slow weekend breakfast; and Chocolate and nuts scores Pour-over Explorer 3 + 1 = 4, Cozy Latte Lover 2 + 1 = 3 and Espresso Purist 1. Pour-over Explorer wins. Its result shows “Because you said” with the two answers that gave it points.

#Also a great fit

Also a great fit shows the next best results under the winner: Show only the result, or Show 1 close match under it, up to 3. “The next best results by points, when they’re close. Shoppers between two products see both, each one tap from the cart.”

A result is close when it has at least 40% of the winner’s points, and more than 0. In the example, the winner has 4 points, so a close match needs at least 1.6: Cozy Latte Lover (3) shows, Espresso Purist (1) doesn’t. Close matches are listed by points, highest first.

Each close match shows as a small card: its picture (or its first product’s photo), its name linking to its landing page (or to its first product), its price, and Add to cart, which adds all its products. Close matches never get the bundle discount. A result with no products for sale and no landing page isn’t shown as a close match.

#Landing pages

A landing page is your own page for the type: a collection, a blog post, a page with the full routine.

  • As a button: it shows under the products with your Button text (Learn more when empty). When the result sells no products, it’s the main button.
  • As the result itself: with Skip the results and open the landing page, shoppers see “Your match: The Weekend Explorer” and “Taking you to your results…”, then the page opens. Use it when the landing page shows everything for the type.
  • In Play, the result still shows, with the note “On your store, shoppers go straight to /pages/weekend-explorer instead of this page.”

An address that isn’t a page of your store or an https:// address shows “Use a page on your store, like /pages/weekend-explorer, or an address starting with https://.” and stops Publish until it’s fixed. Clearing the address also turns off the skip.

#What shoppers see

  • A small line, “Your match” (or “Your match: The Weekend Explorer” when the result has a heading), then the heading and your text.
  • “Because you said”, with the answers that gave this result its points.
  • Your picture, shown whole.
  • The products. A single product, such as a bundle, gets the stage to itself. With 2 or more, an Add all bar: “Everything for The Weekend Explorer”, the total and Add all to cart.
  • The landing page button, the Also a great fit cards, and Change answers and Retake the quiz.

Products that are sold out or no longer on your Online Store are left out of the result without a message. Check every answer warns you about them: “Result “Glass Skin”: “Dew Serum” is sold out or not on the Online Store.”

The welcome screen’s facts read “6 possible matches” and “1 match, made for you”. In analytics, the Result pages tab of Results and products shows how many shoppers got each result and what it sold: see Reading your analytics.

Limits

  • Up to 10 products per result with Pick products; up to 12 at once with Add products as results.
  • Up to 3 close matches.
  • Points of 1, 2 or 3 per answer and result.
