#Four plans, billed by Shopify

Teacup Quiz has four plans: Free, Starter, Growth and Plus. Each includes a number of completed quizzes, a few AI allowances and a set of features. Every plan lets you make as many quizzes as you like.

Open Plans in the app menu to see your plan, this month’s or billing cycle’s usage, and the four plans with a button each. Shopify bills paid plans with your Shopify bill, so there’s no card to enter.

#Compare the plans

Free includes one AI-drafted quiz per store, and it never starts over. Every plan also allows at most 10 AI drafts an hour. The Plans page shows prices per month; Shopify bills every 30 days. AI allowances are explained in AI allowances.

#What a completed quiz is

A completed quiz is one shopper reaching their results: after the last question, or after the email step when the quiz has one. It counts once per quiz run, across all your quizzes, including test versions in an A/B test. Analytics shows the same number as Finished.

These never count and are never billed:

• Your own test runs: the editor’s Play mode, the theme editor, theme previews, and visits opened with Open your store or a ?teacup_test=1 link.
• Shoppers who turned down analytics in your store’s cookie banner.
• Shoppers who leave before their results.
• Runs finished faster than a person could read and answer, which are usually bots.

#Past your plan’s limit

Free: quizzes pause

Free includes 100 completed quizzes a calendar month, with a little grace. At 110, your quizzes pause until the 1st of the next month. See When quizzes pause.

Starter and Growth: usage charges

Quizzes never pause. Completed quizzes past your plan are billed as usage charges on your Shopify bill, in blocks of 100. A block is billed as soon as it starts, so the 1,001st completion on Starter bills the block from 1,001 to 1,100.

For example, a Starter store with 1,350 completed quizzes in a billing cycle starts 4 blocks (1,001 to 1,400): 4 × $2 = $8, so that cycle costs $37.

Past the cap, quizzes keep running at no extra charge until your next bill. Each charge shows on your bill as, for example, “100 completed quizzes over your Starter plan (1,001 to 1,100 this billing cycle)”.

Plus: no limit

Plus includes every completed quiz, with no usage charges.

#How billing works

• Shopify bills Teacup Quiz on your regular Shopify bill, every 30 days, in US dollars.
• On Starter and Growth, the included completed quizzes, usage charges and their cap count per 30-day billing cycle.
• Pausing on Free, the usage emails and paid plans’ AI drafts count per calendar month, in UTC. Free’s one AI draft never starts over.
• Changing plans in the middle of a billing cycle never bills the same completed quizzes twice.
• The footer of the Plans page shows your next bill, like “Next bill: Nov 2.”

#Founding stores: 30% off, for good

The first 50 stores on a paid plan are founding stores: every paid plan is 30% off for them, for as long as they stay. Starter is $20.30, Growth $55.30 and Plus $139.30 every 30 days.

• The Plans page shows how many founding spots are left, and the founding prices on each plan while there are.
• Shopify shows the discount on its approval page, and it applies to every bill. Usage charges aren’t discounted.
• A spot is taken when you approve a paid plan, not when you look at one. Development stores’ test charges don’t take one.
• A founding store keeps the discount when it changes plans, goes back to Free and upgrades again, or reinstalls Teacup Quiz.

#Your usage on the Plans page

The top of Plans shows two meters:

• On Starter and Growth, Completed quizzes this billing cycle, under This billing cycle. On Free and Plus, and during a free trial, Completed quizzes, under This month. In the trial it says “Free during your trial. From Oct 23, 1,000 per billing cycle, then $2 per 100 more.” (with your own date and plan).
• AI-drafted quizzes. On a paid plan it counts this month’s, with “Starts over on Nov 1. At most 10 an hour.”, or in the free trial “During your trial: up to 20 a month. Starts over on Nov 1. At most 10 an hour.” On Free it counts your one, out of 1, with “Free includes one, once. Paid plans draft up to 20 a month.”

The note under the first meter says what happens next, for example “Quizzes keep running up to 110, then pause until Nov 1.” on Free, “Never pauses: $2 per 100 more, up to $50 per billing cycle. New cycle on Nov 2.” on Starter, or “Every shopper who reaches their results.” on Plus. Once you’re past the plan it adds what’s billed so far, like “200 extra so far: $4. Never pauses.”

The bar turns amber from 80% of the limit, and red once Free is over its limit.

#Development stores

On a development store (a Shopify Partner test store), every plan uses test charges: you can pick any plan and nothing is billed. The footer of the Plans page says “This is a development store: plans use test charges, so nothing is billed.”

#Which plan fits

You can change plans any time, and every store gets one 14-day free trial of the paid plans.
